Equestrian Vaulting is a sport that is a graceful and competitive sport. It requires a degree of discipline and is sometimes used to help people who have problems with balance and poor motor skills.

In the sport of competitive vaulting each person competes on their own or as a team. The horses used during the tournament have been trained well with their respective riders. There are six different compulsory exercises that the horse and rider team perform – mount, flag, riding seat, scissors, flank, stand, and the dismount. The judges will award them on a normal scale of 0-10. The horses will also receive a score on how well their gait is.

Horses that are used for vaulting wear a think pad on their back and a roller (surcingle) instead of the normal saddle. The roller was designed with handles that help the rider when performing moves. The horse will still wear a bridle and side reins. Most horses that are trained in vaulting will move on the left rein. However, there are two types of competitions that will require the rider to ride the horse on the right.
