American Warmbloods are horses that are trained to be used in competitions like show jumping and dressage. Their powerful and strong shoulders and hind quarters is what makes them so great for competitions. They also have a short back – which helps them to compete in any type of riding event.

The American Warmbloods are often viewed upon as a particular breed of horses – but in actuality they are a ‘type’ of horse. To be an American Warmblood the horse must first be registered as one. To accomplish this – the horse must be inspected and show that it is a perfect sport horse and can perform in the necessary competitions.

Because of this you will find that the bloodline of the American Warmbloods is very much diversified. The American Warmblood Society does not feel the need to distinguish what lineage or bloodline each horse comes from after they have been accepted.
